Mother Beddock Walking Track

Walking Track

Would you like to see three of Bowen’s great beaches as well as visit one of the most spectacular look-outs in North Queensland?

The walking track from Horseshoe Bay to Rose Bay takes approximately one hour to complete.

Starting near the Horseshoe Bay Resort, the track winds up the boulder strewn headland before returning down to the ocean at picturesque Murray Bay, Bowen’s secluded beach.

After a short walk across the sand, the trail snakes uphill again, this time up to the ageless landmark, Mother Beddock. The view from here is nothing less than spectacular.

The final part of the track leads down to peaceful but beautiful Rose Bay.

Fishing in Bowen

Fishing

Fishing is one of Bowen’s biggest attractions. You can throw in a line from a beach, at a creek, off some rocks or the end of the jetty at the Front Beach. If its deeper water you are after, local fishing charters can take you where the big fish are.

Fish in the waters around Bowen include coral trout, barramundi (in season), cod and sweetlip as well as grey, spotted and spanish mackeral.

One thing to keep in mind while fishing around Bowen is the zoning for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. For more information about zoning, bag limits and size of fish. contact the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol on 4786 3444. As the TV ad says, “Don’t be the catch of the day”.
