In 2015, Bowen will again host a round of the Offshore Superboat Championships. The Bowen Superboats will again put the focus on the Bowen Foreshore and will be the town’s largest on-water event.
Located in the Whitsunday Region, Bowen is halfway between Mackay and Townsville. With more than eight beaches, it is the ideal family weekend getaway.
15 boats will compete and reach speeds of in excess of 200 kilometres/hour. The boats will race for pole positions on Saturday, with the main race happening on Sunday. On Friday night spectators will be able to get up close and personal with the Superboats during the Superboat Street Fest. On Saturday night Bowen’s Soundshell will host the Superboat Shindig, with live entertainment. There will also be kid’s rides, a pampering zone, markets, a jet-pack display, and helicopter joy rides.
